SWEET: There are degrees of sweetness for candy, and the website Candystore.com gives a rundown of the sweetest candy of 2024.

There aren’t a lot of surprises, if you think about it.

First on the list was Pixy Stix, powder-filled straws in four different flavors that were originally slated to be a drink mixture, but kids liked it so much they started eating the mixture instead. Nerds candy “are delicious, sweet, and sour, and also a perfect combination of two classic flavors — grape and strawberry.” There’s a strong debate with this candy, with some hating it, comparing it to aquarium gravel, while others love the tart flavors.

Charms Fluffy Stuff Cotton Candy “is a beautiful and unexpected treat for almost any occasion. If you ever wanted to bring the sweet memories of the classic carnival treat home with you, now you can do it.”

Skittles Original Chewy Candy “is a fruit candy with a unique crunchy shell and the “S” letter stamped on the front side. These candies come in a wide array of colors and a variety of fruity flavors. According to most people who at least occasionally enjoyed Skittles at some point, green apple is definitely the best flavor, while the wild berry version was literally the worst.”

Sour Patch Kids: “With around 80% sugar, Sour Patch Kids has a surprisingly sour and sweet taste that is well-known and loved by many. The candy offers a unique pleasure in making your way from the sour initial bite to the chewy and sweet content beneath. The candy has a tartaric acid sugar coating that reacts with the saliva on the tongue, creating a strong sour flavor before the sweet gummy candy is released to produce sweet pleasure in the mouth.”
