The conservation districts of Cameron, Elk, McKean, Potter and Tioga counties, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and Generations Forestry will sponsor a daylong workshop for foresters, loggers, logging contractors and private landowners.
Set 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Wilcox Community Building, 320 Faries St., Wilcox, the workshop will cover fundamentals for erosion control, permitting and stream considerations, planning before the harvest using the SFI Timber Harvest Checklist to plan a sustainable harvest, Best Management Practices (BMPs) and common site problems.
Professional credits are available for continuing education (PA Sustainable Forestry Initiative) for an additional $20. Workshop cost is $15 per person, which includes materials, refreshments and lunch. Pre-register for the course no later than Oct. 10 through the SFI website sfiofpa.org/register.
