BROCKWAY — Senior Brayden Frair was running his last dual meet and he placed first to lead Bradford to wins over Brockway and Ridgway.
The Owls defeated Ridgway 15-48 and Brockway 16-47.
Running on a very slippery and muddy course with massive hills, Frair ran 19:09 to take first place honors.
He had plenty of support with Evan Troisi, Kadyn Tessena, and freshman Jordan Hogue taking the next three places.
Troisi took second in 20:04, Tessena was third in 21:21, and Hogue was fourth in 21:24.
“Frair may have been the only guy who didn’t fall,” noted Bradford coach Tom Tessena. “Tessena went down two or three times, and everyone ended up covered in mud. The course was run at Scotish Heights golf course and there were some really tough hills.”
Jed Manno of Brockway was fifth in 21:24.4. Nikolai and Xavier Frontino took sixth (21:35) and seventh (21:53).
“It was nice having two sophomores and three freshmen in our top six today,” Tessena said.
Ridgway grabbed the next two spots with Aiden Magnusson and Ian Ginther in eighth and ninth (22:04.2 and 22:04.6) and Bradford’s Marcus Terwilliger was 10th in 22:06.
Jude Schreiber of Ridgway was 11th followed by Bradford ‘s Cavan Drake 12th (22:34), Malyk Harpster — 13th (22:36), and Joe Caruso – 14th (22:48).
Beau Schreiber of Ridgway was 15th .
“When faced with these conditions most teams just run the meet like a workout,” Tessena said. “I think all of the teams just ran the first mile hard and then finish the race as easy as they could. That is pretty much what we did today, but we ran better than they did. Also running for Bradford were: Owen Blauser (18th — 24:10), Tony McDonald (19th – 24:16), Edward Youmans (22nd — 24:44), and Miles Hawk (23rd -24:52)
“We were still pretty tired from Saturday and we have the Ridgway Invitational coming up this Saturday,” Tessena said. “We need to get in some distance tomorrow and a good track workout on Thursday to sharpen up for this meet. We will see how we stack up against many of our district rivals. This makes our dual meet record 11-3 for the year. We now only have invitationals before districts.”
In Middle School action Bradford’s Charlie Vinelli won again taking first in 14:24 on this very tough two-mile layout.
Harrison Schmader of Brockway was 2nd (15:13). Langdon Krepp and Owen Tingley took the next two places for Bradford in 15:55 and 16:08 respectively. Richard Moate and Jack Gardner took fourth and fifth for Ridgway in 17:05 and 17:16. Also running for Bradford were Oliver Burritt (15th — 20:20) and Jacob Warfield (18th – 26:56).
“We defeated Brockway 23-32 and Ridgway 21-34,” noted Tessena. “This brought their dual meet record to 5-6 for the year. They also will be taking part in the Ridgway Invitational on Saturday.”
