GREENVILLE — Andy Mangold and Mitch Strauss, 2024 graduates of Bradford Area High School, are off to fantastic starts to their college soccer careers at Thiel.
The Tomcats currently sit at 4-1 on the young season, with Mangold and Strauss playing key roles in the strong start.
Mangold scored his first-career college goal in the Tomcats’ season opener, a 4-0 win over Carlow. Mangold was assisted by Strauss.
Strauss’ first college goal was special, given the fact that it came in Thiel’s fourth game at Pitt-Bradford.
For his efforts last week, Strauss was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Newcome of the Week honors, an award. The award was won the previous week by Mangold.
The Tomcats started 4-0 with wins over Carlow, Pitt-Greensburg, Penn State-Beaver and Pitt-Bradford, suffering their first loss of the season on Wednesday to Baldwin-Wallace.
They return to action on Saturday at 4 p.m. at La Roche.
