The conservation districts of Cameron, Elk, McKean, Potter and Tioga, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Generations Forestry, will sponsor a daylong workshop for foresters, loggers, logging contractors and private landowners.
The workshop will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Wilcox Community Building, 320 Faries St.
The workshop will cover: fundamentals for erosion control, permitting and stream considerations; planning before the harvest using the SFI Timber Harvest Checklist to plan a sustainable harvest; Best Management Practices (BMPs) and common site problems.
Professional credits are available for continuing education (PA Sustainable Forestry Initiative) for an additional $20. Workshop cost is $15 per person, which includes materials, refreshments and lunch. Pre-register for the course no later than Oct. 10 through the SFI website, sfiofpa.org/register.
