OLEAN, N.Y. — Art in the Quad, a reimagining of the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce’s former Art in the Park event, will make its return.
Sponsored by SUNY Jamestown Community College and the Tri-County Arts Council, Art in the Quad is scheduled for Oct. 19 outdoors on the downtown Olean JCC Cattaraugus County Campus lawn. The event features a juried fine arts show that showcases the finest art in southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania.
Art in the Quad is free to attend and open to the public.
“We’re bringing back a community event that used to be popular and was previously hosted on campus,” said Amanda Hulbert, a success navigator and admissions coordinator at JCC who is also active in the local arts community.
A $15 jury fee is required for those wishing to participate in the competition. Cost for student artists wishing to exhibit their work is $25 and $100 for professionals. Visit tricountyartscouncil.org/shop/juried-artist-links/art-in-the-quad-juried-competition to register.
“Because we’re going to be featuring student artists as well as local artists, students will be offered a discount for their exhibits,” Hulbert added.
Food vendors and musical acts are being sought for the event. Those interested in participating are asked to contact Hulbert at (716) 376-7563 or AmandaHulbert@mail.sunyjcc.edu.
