HARBORCREEK — The Bradford High girls soccer team got its season started on the right foot, earning a hard-fought 2-1 win over Harbor Creek.
Alyssa Mangold took a pass from Bella Prince, made a move and got free for a shot which she put in the back of the net to give Bradford a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.
Clinging to that 1-0 lead, a hand ball in the box gave Harbor Creek a penalty kick, but Maddie Stark came up with a diving stop to keep the game in favor of the Lady Owls.
In the 73rd minute, Harbor Creek was able to tie it up, coming off a scramble at the top of the box.
Prince and Alyssa Mangold came right back for Bradford, however. Once again, it was Prince to Mangold to give Bradford the lead in the 75th minute and ultimately the win.
“We were outplayed for the first 20 to 25 minutes before we started to connect on passes and play our game,” said Bradford coach Jim Warnick.
The JV team tied 1-1. Regan Dillaman had the goal for Bradford and Alexis Kicior had 10 saves.
