ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — St. Bonaventure alumnus Zack Belter ‘22 has earned a spot on the 2024 USA Box Lacrosse team, officials have announced.
Belter is part of the 23-man roster that will represent the United States at the World Lacrosse Box Championships Sept. 20-29 in Utica, N.Y. A total of 28 teams from around the world will compete for this year’s world championship.
The U.S. men have won the bronze medal at each of the previous five world championships, most recently in 2019.
Belter has had a tremendous summer.
Prior to being named to the USA Box Lacrosse Team, he became the first Bonnies alum to win a National Lacrosse League championship with the Buffalo Bandits this past May. A Western New York native, Belter played in all five Buffalo playoff games with nine looseballs and two caused turnovers while also blocking two shots during the Bandits’ title push.
After missing the start to the season due to injury, Belter played in eight regular season games with 17 looseballs, six caused turnovers and three blocked shots while also adding an assist.
A two-time MAAC All-Conference selection while with the Bonnies, Belter finished his collegiate career as the school record-holder for caused turnovers (62) while standing second in the program record book for groundballs (93) and fourth in games played (50).
Belter was selected in the first round of the 2022 NLL Draft by Buffalo.
