AUSTIN — Several free public programs are scheduled this weekend at Sinnemahoning State Park.
From 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, mark the start of National Moth Week by checking the park’s moth sheet with a park educator and learning more about the diversity of moths found at Sinnemahoning. Meet at the Wildlife Center.
Then from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, discover the life of the timber rattlesnake during The Secret Behind the Rattle. Stacy Foster, a certified timber rattlesnake monitor, will share her passion for its conservation and provide an up close look at a live wild specimen. Meet at the Wildlife Center classroom.
Join park staff for an informative pontoon tour of George B. Stevenson Reservoir, cruising the shoreline for a look at wildlife. Group sizes are limited; pre-registration is available online and, while not required, is recommended to reserve a seat. There is no charge for a tour, but donations to offset the costs are requested to keep them free.
Meet at the Lake Day Use Area; tours are scheduled 9 to 10:15 a.m., 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.
