UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State Extension offers scholarships for Pennsylvania residents to attend Penn State’s Pork 101 program in October.
The Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council will provide up to $6,000 in scholarships for community members to attend the three-day, hands-on educational program. Hosted by the College of Agricultural Sciences’ Department of Animal Science in partnership with the American Meat Science Association, Pork 101 is designed to enhance participants’ knowledge of the pork industry.
This scholarship supports local pig producers and individuals in the local food service industry, such as school cafeteria managers, restaurant owners and private meat cutters.
The 2024 event is scheduled for Oct. 29 to 31 at Penn State’s University Park campus. Applications are open until 11:59 p.m. Sept. 15. Interested individuals can visit https://pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5vEowD6EcdHDami.
