Fans of Smethport football who can’t make it to the stadium will have a chance to listen to their team play for the first time in nearly two decades.
Classic Hits 106.3 The Mountain – WXMT-FM – announced the station will broadcast all Smethport Hubbers football games during the 2024 season.
“It’s an amazing opportunity,” station owner Bob Smith said, “to be able to bring the Hubbers back to the airwaves.”
Smethport Hubbers football had been broadcast on the old WLMI radio in Kane until its sale in 2006 and has not been aired on a regular basis since.
Leading the broadcast team for the games will be the station’s new Sports Director, Cameron Snodgrass, a veteran of play-by-play for Bradford Owls Football and vice president of Bradford Raptors Youth Football.
In addition to broadcasting the games live on 106.3 FM, plans include streaming games live on the station’s website, mountain1063radio.com, for fans and family who have moved out of the area, as well as offering games on demand to stream or download after they air.
