SMETHPORT — A Port Allegany man waived a preliminary hearing Thursday in McKean County Central Court on 75 felony counts relating to child pornography.
Brayden S. Woods, 21, of 34 E. Ransome St., is charged with 41 counts of child pornography — indecent contact, second-degree felonies; 16 counts of child pornography — nudity, third-degree felonies; nine counts of disseminating images of child pornography-indecent contact, second-degree felonies; eight counts of disseminating images of child pornography-nudity, third-degree felonies; and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree felony.
According to the criminal complaint, the charges were filed by the state police computer crime unit based on allegations that from June 5, 2022, to May 9, 2024, down- and uploaded material from locations on Windfall Road in Eldred, Route 155 in Turtlepoint and East Ransom Street in Port Allegany, all locations where Woods had resided during the course of the investigation.
On June 5, 2022, Woods uploaded three images of child pornography to Snapchat. The images were traced by state police back to Woods at the Eldred address. On May 14, 2023, Woods uploaded an image to Twitter via direct message. The investigator found that Woods had sent videos through direct messaging as well. After multiple tips and further investigation, a search warrant was served on the Port Allegany residence in May. Woods was later interviewed by police and admitted to having a curiosity about child pornography and admitted to viewing, downloading and sending it to others, the criminal complaint stated.
Woods was arraigned last week and released on $50,000 unsecured bail. He waived his hearing before District Judge Bill Todd on Thursday in Central Court.
Woods is represented by Public Defender Phil Clabaugh.
