SMETHPORT — A Kane man waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of statutory sexual assault at Central Court on Thursday.
William A. Brunt, 19, of Dawson Street will face the one second-degree felony charge in McKean County Court.
According to the criminal complaint, an underage female and her parents reported that Brunt had intercourse with the female “in the woods” in Kane Borough. When police spoke to Brunt, he said they did, but he stopped when she told him to. He admitted to the officer that he knew the female was 14 years old, the complaint stated.
Brunt was arraigned June 12 before on-call District Judge Bill Todd and jailed in lieu of $30,000 bail. He remains incarcerated after waiving his hearing before Todd on Thursday.
He is represented by attorney Robert Kinnear from the public defender’s office.
