WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025.
Commenting on it Friday morning, Thompson said, “The National Defense Authorization Act is one of the most important bills Congress takes up. This year’s bill improves service members’ quality of life, while equipping our military with the tools and resources to counter the rapidly growing threats from foreign adversaries and restore American deterrence.
“I am pleased one of my efforts, the Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act, was included in the overall package to ensure our military families have access to safe, affordable, and functional housing.”
The Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act expands access to a centralized assessment tool for members of the Armed Forces and their families to identify, rate, and compare housing options. It will also enhance reporting requirements to ensure the tool is working as intended and the Department of Defense is addressing service members’ concerns.
The act provides a 19.5% pay raise for junior enlisted and a 4.5% pay raise for service members including the 28,900 service members in Pennsylvania; authorizes $129 million for three military construction projects in Pennsylvania; helps Pennsylvania’s 1,500 military spouses attain and retain employment; and expands access to childcare for the 2,800 children of military families in Pennsylvania.
