District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that a county-wide DUI and traffic detail was held on the Saturday evening prior to Memorial Day.

The Pennsylvania State Police, Bradford City Police, Bradford Township Police, Foster Township Police, University of Pittsburgh-Bradford Police, and K9s with the McKean County Drug Task Force and City of Bradford Police participated. Prior to the enforcement, all participating officers met at the Courthouse for a presentation by Mr. and Mrs. Iwaniec, the parents of Trooper Kenton Iwaniec who was killed in a DUI crash when he was hit head-on by an impaired driver. The Iwaniecs have set up a foundation (“Trooper Kenton Iwaniec Memorial Foundation”) to assist community efforts to reduce deaths by impaired driving.

Following the presentation, the Officers reported to their jurisdictions. Countywide details such as this will continue to be held in McKean County to serve as a deterrent to DUI driving.
