SMETHPORT — A free two-part hands-on workshop on managing buckthorn will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 and July 17 at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall at 99 Clarion Road.
This workshop is intended for anyone seeking information on treating two invasive plants, glossy buckthorn and common buckthorn.
This workshop is sponsored by the Forest Service, McKean Potter County and Elk County Conservation Districts, and Allegheny Plateau Invasive Plant Management Area.
Art Gover, retired Penn State University Extension specialist will be the presenter.
Participants of the workshop will learn about integrated pest management, treatment planning and implementation and treatment techniques. This is a free workshop that includes lunch.
