SMETHPORT — An out-of-area resident, arrested on a warrant, was booked into McKean County Jail on May 25 while allegedly having methamphetamine in his wallet.
Brandon Whitebird, 34, is charged with contraband to a confined prisoner and possession of a controlled substance by an inmate, second-degree felonies; and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, at 9:14 p.m. May 25, while Whitebird was being booked into the jail on a warrant from outside the area, the corrections officer found a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal substance inside Whitebird’s wallet. The material was secured in the warden’s office. On May 30, a McKean County detective retrieved the material and performed testing, finding it to be 0.8 grams of methamphetamine.
Whitebird was arraigned Friday before District Judge Bill Todd and returned to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled for Central Court on June 6.
