BROOKVILLE — Coudersport’s Kevin Sherry broke two D9 Class 2A track and field championship meet records and the Elk County Catholic girls repeated as 2A team champions.
Sherry’s time in the 1600 of 4:18.04 broke his own mark set last year, while his time of 9:18.62 also set a new standard in the 3200.
Also winning titles for the boys were Parker Sherry of Coudersport in the javelin (164-10), Oswayo Valley’s Lachlan Tabachek in the triple jump (43-10.5 — school record) and Kane’s Connor Brown in the shot put (55-5.5) and Sam Lundeen in the long jump (21-4.25).
Also, Otto-Eldred’s Shene Thomas punched his ticket to states with second place finishes in the long and triple jumps.
For the ECC girls, the 4×800 relay team of Sami Straub, Sophia Billie, Gianna Billie and Grace Neubert rolled to victory with a time of 9:40.35.
Maddie Lanzel won the 400 for ECC (1:00.41), while Gianna Billie took first in the 800 (2:23.75), Sophia Billie in the 1600 (5:21.93), Neubert in the 3200 (11:31.76) and Straub in the triple jump (35-6).
Jim Manners award winners were Redbank Valley’s Mylee Harmon for the girls and Brookville’s Hayden Freeman for the boys. Brookville won the Class 2A team title.
