HARRISBURG — The Energy Association of Pennsylvania recognized 14 companies for outstanding safety performance.
“We congratulate our members for their continuing commitment to improve safety for their customers and in the workplace,” said Terrance J. Fitzpatrick, president and CEO, Energy Association of Pennsylvania. “For three decades, the association and our predecessor organizations have been recognizing companies for their efforts in safety through the EAP’s annual Job Safety Award program.”
Duquesne Light Co., PECO and Penn Power earned the Safety Achievement Award, which recognizes those member companies, each with 100,000 or more hours worked, reporting an exceptionally low incidence rate for calendar year 2023.
National Fuel Gas, Penn Power and West Penn Power earned the Safety Improvement Award, which recognizes those member companies, each with 100,000 or more hours worked, that reported an exceptional reduction in incidence rate from 2022 to 2023.
The Safety Performance Certificate recognized Citizens’ Electric Co., Valley Energy and Wellsboro Electric Co. for incurring zero disabling injuries in 2023. Citizens’ Electric and Wellsboro Electric were also recognized with the Safety Sustainability Certificate for achieving the same since 2021.
The Safety Sustainability Award recognized Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Duquesne Light Co. and Peoples Gas, each with 100,000 or more hours worked, for reporting an exceptionally low incidence rate sustained from 2021 through 2023.
The Outstanding Motor Vehicle Fleet Safety Award recognized Citizens’ Electric Co. Valley Energy and Wellsboro Electric Co. for zero motor vehicle accidents in 2023.
The Motor Vehicle Fleet Safety Improvement Award recognized Peoples Gas, Penn Power and Valley Energy for achieving an exceptional reduction in motor vehicle accidents in 2023 compared to 2022.
The Motor Vehicle Fleet Safety Achievement Award recognized Columbia Gas, Peoples Gas and Penelec, each with more than 2,000,000 miles driven, for reporting an exceptionally low rate of preventable incidents or accidents in 2023.
