ECCOTA, Remake Learning Days set ice dye workshop
RIDGWAY — The Elk County Council on the Arts, in partnership with Remake Learning Days, will host an ice-dye workshop at 11 a.m. Saturday at the ECCOTA Gallery on Main Street.
Unlike traditional dyeing methods, ice dyeing involves placing ice on fabric and sprinkling powdered dyes on top. As the ice melts, it carries the dyes through the fabric, creating mesmerizing patterns.
This unique process not only yields vibrant and unpredictable designs but also offers a hands-on learning experience. Artists and educators alike are drawn to ice dyeing for its ability to teach color theory, water diffusion and the chemistry of dyes in a visually engaging way. The event is part of Remake Learning Days, the largest family learning festival in the nation, taking place across Central PA until May 22.
Remake Learning Days invites children, families and educators to make space for wonder and unlock knowledge and fun through the festival’s dynamic learning experiences. ECCOTA was eager to partner with Remake Learning Days, as they share the same belief of value through arts education. For more information, visit their website at remakelearningdays.org.
The event is free to the public, and parents are encouraged to learn alongside their child. Bring a washed, natural fiber, light-colored dyeable garment. ECCOTA will also have a few items on hand to be dyed. For more info, call the ECCOTA Gallery at (814) 772-7051.
