COUDERSPORT — Behind Jaylyn Williammee’s no-hitter, the Northern Potter softball team remained undefeated in the North Allegany League, taking down Coudersport 12-1 in five innings.
Before their matchup with the Lady Falcons, the Lady Panthers were cruising through the season. Not only had they secured the No. 1 seed in the NAL at 6-0, but NoPo had been able to string together consecutive wins in bunches — they were 8-2 coming into Wednesday. For Coudy, their season had amassed a 6-5 record, the third seed in the league and a four-game win streak.
NoPo’s lead off batter, Reagan Slawson, got on base with a walk before stealing her way to third. A ground out from Lillian Steele drove her in for the first run of the day. The Lady Panthers’ would go on to outscore themselves in nearly every frame of the game, including a five-run fourth inning that secured the victory. Coudy’s lone run came from a Laura Dunn double that drove in Madyson Dubots-Angood.
Steele finished 1-for-3 with a game-high five RBIs while Haylee Chapman ended 3-for-3 with two runs and two more batted in. Riley Knowles also had two runs and two RBIs on a 2-for-4 day at the plate. During five four frames in the circle, Williammee fanned 12 batters, giving up no hits and no walks.
