EMPORIUM — A program on Dutch oven cooking will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday in pavilion five at Sizerville State Park.
State park volunteers John and Jan Halter will focus on the program of spring traditions and demonstrate how to cook dandelion fritters in a Dutch oven. Samples of the fritters will be provided at the end of the program.
A salamander safari will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Environmental Learning Center at Sizerville.
Did you know that salamanders can breathe through their skin and that they undergo metamorphosis? Answers to these questions and more will be main topic of this program. Come out and join the park educator for a general informational talk on these amphibians, their role in the ecosystem, and have the opportunity to find one at Sizerville State Park. Feel free to wear water shoes, bring dry clothes, a water bottle, or a towel.
