SMETHPORT — Three local men were sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to serve time in state prison.
Justin Schlopy, 33, of Bradford was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in state prison for sexual assault against a teenage girl.
Three years of consecutive supervision will follow the prison time. Schlopy must register as a sex offender for life. Schlopy had pled guilty to sexual assault, said District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
According to the criminal complaint, between Oct. 29 and 30, at a residence in Bradford, while a female juvenile was sleeping, Schlopy assaulted her. During the alleged assault, he held the victim’s arms so she couldn’t move, and her mouth so she couldn’t call for help, the complaint stated.
Police obtained a DNA sample from Schlopy, which matched evidence collected at Bradford Regional Medical Center following the assault, the complaint stated.
Also on Thursday, Mark Wilson, 65, of Kane, was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in state prison and three years of consecutive supervision. Wilson was previously deemed to be a sexually violent predator and has to register as a sex offender for his lifetime, Shaffer said.
He pled guilty in October to counts of indecent assault and corruption of minors.
According to the criminal complaint, on June 13, a child welfare report was received by Kane Borough Police about a juvenile who had been assaulted by Wilson. A forensic interview was conducted, and the child said Wilson was touching her inappropriately, and had put her hand on him inappropriately. Wilson admitted to the allegations, police said.
Charles Johnson, 42, was sentenced to 14 to 28 months in state prison on charges of stealing from his employer. Johnson was convicted following a two-day trial in October on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, said Shaffer. However, Johnson failed to show for sentencing when it was first scheduled.
A warrant had been scheduled for his arrest, and he was taken into custody last week by City of Bradford Police. Additional charges have been filed as a result.
In this case, Sgt. Seth Shephard of City of Bradford Police had charged Johnson after he received a report that Johnson had stolen a chop saw and cash from a man who employed him for construction work.
Additional terms of his sentence include restitution to and no contact with the victim.
