Many of the local seats up for vote in Tuesday’s primary election were unopposed, with both candidates securing their party’s nomination for the ballot in the fall general election. However, there was a race for delegates to the Republican National Convention.
As of late Tuesday, it appeared that the McKean County candidate, Matthew Causer, was not successful.
The top three candidates out of the eight running, before all the results were in, were Frederick Keller with 18.06% of the votes, Darlene Smail with 14.58% and Joyce Haas with 14.29%.
Turnout in McKean County was posted with unofficial results at 21.18%.
For U.S. representative for the 15th district, incumbent Glenn Thompson of Centre County, and the Democratic candidate Zach Womer of Centre County, will both run in the fall election.
Incumbent state senator Cris Dush of Jefferson County was unopposed on the Republican ballot, while William McGill of Clinton County had announced his write-in candidacy for the Democratic nomination. Write-in votes have yet to be counted.
A race for the November election for representative in the General Assembly for the 67th Legislative District will feature incumbent Republican Martin Causer and Democrat Rajeev Pradhan. Both men are from McKean County.
