PORT ALLEGANY — Smethport softball swept a doubleheader from Port Allegany on Wednesday, winning 12-3 in Game 1 and 17-15 (five innings) in Game 2.
In Game 1, Smethport jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the top of the third inning on its way to the win, capped by an Elizabeth Hungiville three-run homer in the third inning. Hungiville finished with four RBIs in the game.
Also for the Lady Hubbers, Janell Dinch went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Hope Peterson and Caleigh Wolosewicz drove in one run each.
Tylar Colley got the win, tossing a complete game seven-hitter, allowing two earned runs, striking out seven and walking one.
For Port Allegany, Brynn Evens was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Madison Errick was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Alyssa Tanner took the loss, allowing nine runs (five earned) in seven innings, striking out four and walking nine.
In Game 2, Smethport jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first and 12-5 after two innings, but Port Allegany scored seven runs in the third inning to tie the game at 12-12.
Port Allegany led 14-13 after four innings, but Smethport scored four runs in the fifth to re-take the lead for good.
Hungiville and Dinch drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks to tie the game, while Peterson gave Smethport the lead on an RBI single and Colley grounded into a fielder’s choice to bring in another run.
Dinich finished with four RBIs in the game, while Peterson and Colley and three each and Ava Gifford two.
Colley once again got the complete game victory.
Peyton Gordon had a big game at the plate for the Lady Gators, going 1-for-3 with five RBIs, while Tanner was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Emily Errick 1-fpr1- with two RBIs and two runs and Alayna McKervey 3-for-4 with two runs.
Tanner took the loss in Game 2.

ST. MARYS — The Lady Owls fell to 1-3 as they were unable to stop the undefeated Lady Dutch’s hot bats.
While Bradford struggled to get past Avery Eckels, who ended with eight strikeouts while just giving up one hit, the Lady Dutch got to work early, tallying four runs in the first before a six-run second frame put the game securely out of reach.
Molly Hansolvan led the way for St. Marys in the batter’s box, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five more batted in. Kaylen Eozzo and Guliana Muccio both went perfect at the plate, with Eozzo going 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI and Muccio going 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Korie Dixon registered the Lady Owls’ lone hit on the day.

Brockway 10, Johnsonburg 0, 5 innings
BROCKWAY — Brockway scored five runs in both the first and third innings of a 10-0, 5-inning win over Johnsonburg.
Josie Orinko, Eliza Powell and Miley Wanson drove in two runs each for Brockway. Six Brockway players had two hits.
Bailee Carberry was one of those players and she was also the winning pitcher, allowing just two hits while striking out six.
Icy Addeo had a double for Johnsonburg.
Natalie Dunworth took the loss, allowing 10 runs (two earned) on eight hits, striking out one and walking one.

Elk County Catholic 11, Kane 0, 5 innings
ST. MARYS — The Lady Crusaders tacked on their fourth win of the season via shutout behind Emily Mourer’s near shutout in the circle.
While Mourer was fanning batters left and right, ending with 10 strikeouts, zero walks and just one hit, ECC were equally effective in the batter’s box. Lead off batter Lucy Klawuhn got on base with a walk and then put the first run on the scoreboard by stealing home. Mourer smacked a double and Syd Alexander notched a triple in the Lady Crusaders’ nine-run first frame.
Klawuhn and Alexander both ended 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs while Alexa Uhl went 2-for-3 with one run and one more batted in.

BROCKWAY — The Rams picked up their fifth win of the season with a late game scoring burst that saw them seal the victory with four consecutive runs.
Going into the seventh inning, Jburg held a narrow margin on the scoreboard, leading 3-2. However, they would manage to put three men on base in as many batters with the help of a walk, an error and H Beeler’s single. A Franky Miller sac-fly would drive in the first score before Isaiah Jackson drove in two runs with an RBI single followed by Luke Zimmerman’s successive single that put the Rams up 7-2. Zimmerson would close out the game on the mound, pitching three consecutive strikeouts to finish off the Rovers once and for all.

Kane 10, Elk County Catholic 0, 5 innings
ST. MARYS — Kane scored six runs in the fifth inning of a 10-0, 5-inning win over Elk County Catholic.
Seven different Kane players drove in a run, led by Isaiah Smith, who was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Kane Scarba, Kyle Zook (double), Preston Darr, Eric Novosel, Isaya Miller and Brock Wensel all drove in one run each for Kane.
Phinn Chamberlain fired five shutout innings to get the win. He allowed just three hits, struck out three and walked one.
Pat Forester had two of Elk County Catholic’s three hits.
Matthew Gilmore took the loss, allowing seven runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out three and walking two in 4 1/3 innings.
