EMPORIUM — In a double-header against a Northern Allegany League opponent, the Cameron County baseball team picked up a pair of wins, beating Oswayo Valley 7-4 and 19-1.
In Game One, CC broke a 4-4 tie with three runs in the sixth.
Jesop Farabaugh’s RBI single gave the Red Raiders a 5-4 lead, and a passed ball and a wild pitch allowed Jake Narby and Maddox Baughman to cross the plate for runs six and seven. All the damage came after two outs.
Ryan Shaffer, Farabaugh, Treyton Tucker, Josh Beer and Cayden Trumpie had one RBI each.
Tucker got the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings and striking out a pair. Shaffer struck out a pair of batters in the ninth to earn the save.
Andrew Wood and Ridge Mesler had one RBI each for OV.
Brayden Wiley took the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits in three innings, striking out three.
The second game went differently. CC’s hot bats struck iron early and often, grabbing a 7-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth. To put the nail in the coffin and enact the mercy rule, the Red Raiders closed the game with double-digit scores in the fifth, the majority of which came from Green Wave errors or walks.
Shaffer scored a team-high four times in the night cap blowout, batting in two RBIs on a 1-for-3 day at the plate, followed by Trumpie with a pair of scores and a pair of RBIs. Farabaugh had a team-high five RBIs, going 1-for-3 in the batter’s box and crossing home plate once.
OV’s lone score of the night came from Ethan Hackman, who notched an RIB single that brought in Wiley.
