BROOKVILLE — Facing off against one of the best teams in District 9, the Bradford boys track and field team continued their hot season with a 81-69 win over Brookville.
Through a neck-and-neck battle all day, the meet came down to the two mile and 3,200 dash to decide the victor. With the pressure on, the Owls stepped up, specifically from Joe Caruso, who took first in the 3,200.
Caruso would be one of a handful of Owls who earned multiple wins on the day. Along with the 3,200, Caruso was a part of the winning 4×800 relay team alongside Brayden Frair, Leo Paterniti and Kayden Tessena. Frair led the way once again, quadrupling in the 4×800 relay, the 800 and 1,600 meter dash, as well as the 4×400 meter relay. Paterniti and Tessena were both on the 4×400 meter relay team, with Paterniti also taking second in the 400 and 800 dash and Tessena taking third in the 800.
Marasco earned another first place finish in the triple jump and finished in second in the long jump behind Chase Wineberg. Wineberg earned another win in the 110 high hurdles and second in the high jump.
Along with their wins, the Owls also saw multiple personal bests through the win. Patrick French set a personal record in the shot put, throwing 40-3, Logan Kohler had his best time in the 110 hurdles at 0:15.98 and won the 300 intermediate hurdles.
“It was a hard fought meet all the way through,” said Bradford boys head coach Tom Tessena. “It was a really good win against one of the better teams we’re going to face this year.”
The Owls return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Harbor Creek to face an eight-team field of competition.
