The National Wrestling Coaches Association released their Scholar All-American list, and University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestler Colton Gietler was honored by the association for his success on the mat and in the classroom.
Gietler was one of 418 wrestlers across Division III to earn the honor. He is the second-ever Pitt-Bradford wrestler to receive this award after Tyler Newton earned it in 2021-22.
Gietler is a senior from Shinglehouse and attended Oswayo Valley High School. At OV, he was a two-time regional qualifier and had 20 or more wins in both his junior and senior seasons.
“We are extremely proud of Colton and all he has accomplished as part of the program,” said coach Terry Schwab. “He was a leader for us on the mat, in practice, and in the classroom.”
To be recognized for this award a wrestler must maintain a 3.2 GPA and win 60% of their matches during the season. Gietler finished the season with a 23-10 record while maintaining a grade point average well over the required minimum.
