Two properties were declared a nuisance and action on another was postponed at a Bradford Board of Health meeting Tuesday.
Building Code Official/Health Director Mike Cleveland explained Wednesday that the board has postponed action on a property at 71 Rochester St.
The property is owned by Kenneth Bell, whose mother, Michelle Ridenour, told the board that someone was interested in purchasing the property. She didn’t have much information, Cleveland said, but the board told her to return at the next meeting with the buyer. The board wanted to see his plan and the timeline to have the nuisances at the property abated or removed.
Cleveland said an accessory building at 22 Merrow Ave. and a garage across the street from 25 Bellview Ave. were declared nuisances at the board meeting.
The Merrow Avenue building is a “really old two-story garage behind a really old house,” he said. “It’s been allowed to decay and become dilapidated over the years. There’s a long history with people staying in and around the structure in question. It is structurally unsound and collapse is imminent.”
On Bellview Avenue, Cleveland said the address is a bit strange. It’s 25 Bellview Ave., but “there are two 25 Bellview Avenues.
“This would be the anomaly on the even side of the road. It is strictly a garage,” he said. “I don’t think there are any houses on that side of the road.”
The garage and the house at that same address are owned by different people.
Regarding the garage, Cleveland said, “It has already partially collapsed.”
On a separate note, The Era asked Cleveland about progress at the Oyo Hotel. He said the board of health has requested a written update on it, and plans to get together with health director John Peterson to discuss the matter.
