JOHNSONBURG — Hosting three teams for their inaugural home meet of the season on Thursday, the Johnsonburg boys and girls track team showcased their talents, finding several multiple-time winners through the day.
The Rams dominated on the track, nearly sweeping the competition. Noah Sherman tripled, taking first place in the 100, 200 and 400 dash. Teammate Joseph Lehman took care of business in the longer stretches, doubling with wins in the 800 dash and 1,600 dash. The boys’ relays were split, with Port Allegany taking the 4×100, Jburg taking the 4×400 relay and Northern Potter winning the 4×800 relay.
By the end of the meet, the Gators took home three total wins, narrowly beating Johnsonburg 75-73, defeating Northern Potter, 73-65 and the Terrors 74-60. Jburg took wins against O-E, 75-50, and NoPo, 78-60, while the Terrors beat the Panthers 73-67.
The Lady Ramettes also showed out for their home crowd, producing three athletes that tallied multiple first-place finishes on the day.
Maddy Macafree took home golds in the 100 and 300 hurdles, while Lacy Jones took first in the 100 dash and high jump. Zoey Grunthaner was the only girl to triple, winning the discus, triple jump and javelin. Molly Cady, of NoPo, also doubled, earning first place in both the 1,600 dash and 3,200 dash.
The Lady Rams swept the competition, beating Port 116-26, O-E 122-19 and NoPo 121-18. Port topped both O-E, 65-45, and the Lady Panthers 83-24, while the Lady Terrors beat NoPo 78-25.
