SATURDAYGEORGE WASHINGTON 6, ST. BONAVENTURE 3
ARLINGTON, Va. – George Washington led early and never relinquished control Saturday afternoon on the way to a 6-3 win over the St. Bonaventure baseball team at Barcroft Park.
The Revolutionaries (17-10, 2-0 A-10) grabbed a 4-0 advantage after two frames as a wild pitch plated a run in the first before run-scoring hits in the second from Ellis Schwartz, Nick Mullen and Sam Gates padded the lead for the hosts.
SBU (8-14, 0-2) got back in the game with three in the sixth.
Jackson DeJohn put the Bonnies on the board with a double down the line and Mark Darakjy then singled in two more later in the inning to get within 4-3.
Unfortunately for the Bonnies, that would be all of their offense, and the Revs added two insurance runs in the eighth.
GW pitching limited the Bonnies to six hits and just one of the extra-base variety – DeJohn’s double.
