DUBOIS — After a tightly contested match in hostile territory, the Bradford boys’ tennis team improved to 2-0 with a 4-3 win over DuBois.
The Owls dropped the first and second singles to the Beavers but responded with Ward Kennedy, who beat Jacob Loomis 6-4 and 6-4. Mason Close finished a two-hour marathon match, beating Kyan Peck to give Bradford a 3-2 lead on the overall scoreboard.
“Mason Close has played tough as a freshman,” said Bradford head coach Doug Atteberry. “He lost two match points in the second set, and was down 4-2 in the third set tiebreaker before coming back and winning the match.”
The match was sealed by Landon Lohrman and Peyton Haight in the doubles, defeating Peck and Loomis to keep the Owls undefeated on the budding season.
“Our depth carried us today. We will go into most matches having the advantage at 4 singles and 3 doubles,”. “We are interchangeable 1-8, which is a good problem to have.”
