A candidate has been chosen for a vacancy on Bradford City Council — veteran Kristofer Goll.
Mayor Tom Riel, on behalf of council, released a statement Monday.
“The City of Bradford had six candidates express interest in the open city council seat vacated by Karen Costello-Pecht,” the statement read. “Top candidates were chosen by council and interviews were conducted. Kristofer Goll’s name will appear on the council agenda Tuesday night for approval. The City of Bradford thanks all candidates who showed an interest.”
Goll serves on the city’s civil service board, which oversees hiring for the police and fire departments. As the new member of council, he would oversee the parks department.
He provided some background information about himself.
“I have called Bradford home for over 30 years,” Goll said. “During that time, I have met a lot of hard working people that have become good friends.”
He continued, “The retailer Fisher’s Big Wheel brought me to this area and I am in my 34th year as a district loss prevention manager with TJ Maxx.”
Goll has served in the military as well. “I am a 34-year Air Force veteran having served in the Air National Guard as a security policeman.”
He wants to be involved in the city.
“My interest in serving in city government is to hold on to all of the good we have in Bradford,” Goll said, “make every effort to keep the bad that is occurring in cities across this great country out, and to work to improve upon the opportunities I see in the city. I can’t accomplish any of those things by standing on the sidelines.”
Costello-Pecht, the first woman on council in 15 years, stepped down to take a job with the Bradford Office of Economic and Community Development. She is serving as deputy director with Sara Andrews as interim director.
Goll would serve until the next municipal election. The council position will be on the ballot in 2025.
