Bradford woman jailed for alleged police assault
A Bradford woman was sent to McKean County Jail for allegedly assaulting a police officer who was trying to make an arrest Sunday evening.
Larissa Johnson, 31, of 35 Pleasant St., Apt. 1, is charged with assault of a law enforcement officer, a first-degree felony; and obstructing the administration of law, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, at 7:07 p.m., officers with Bradford City Police responded to a call for assistance by Foster Township Police Officers Deven Grandinetti, who was making an arrest at 35 Pleasant St. When officers arrived, Grandinetti said a female at the residence grabbed him by the back of the vest to try to pull him off of his arrestee, then jumped onto his back with her arms wrapped around his neck, to further attempt to impede the arrest.
Officers went inside to speak to the involved parties. The two females in the residence at first refused to open the door, and police told them if they didn’t, the officers would enter by force, the complaint stated.
Grandinetti identified the female who assaulted him, which was Johnson, who was taken into custody. As she was being transported to the police station, Without being questioned, Johnson admitted to grabbing the officer, the complaint stated.
Johnson was arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
Bradford woman jailed for alleged death threat
A Bradford woman who allegedly threatened to kill a Tops employee after being caught shoplifting Sunday is in McKean County Jail.
Abby Winsor, 45, of 8 Clarence St., is charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and retail theft, a summary offense.
At 7:39 p.m. Sunday, Bradford City Police were dispatched to Tops for a female looking into vehicles in the parking lot, and who had threatened a Tops employee, according to the criminal complaint. Police were told Winsor had since left on an ATA bus; she was subsequently stopped and returned to the police station. The Tops employee and manager said Winsor had not paid for a cup of coffee and after an employee confronted her, Winsor threatened to kill her, the complaint stated.
The employee said Winsor told her to “look into Winsor’s eyes so Winsor knew who to kill when she returned.”
She was arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $7,500 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
Lewis Run man jailed for alleged assault on driver
A Lewis Run man was sent to McKean County Jail following an arraignment early Monday on charges including aggravated assault on the driver of a car in which he was the passenger.
Kaleb Newbrough, 22, of 85 Main St., is charged with aggravated assault — extreme indifference, a first-degree felony; simple assault and recklessly endangering another, second-degree misdemeanors; criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, third-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary offense.
According to the criminal complaint, at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Bradford Township Police were dispatched to a High Street address for a victim of a domestic dispute, and interviewed the victim at Bradford Regional Medical Center. Police learned the victim was driving a car and Newbrough was the passenger. He began to punch her in the face and head with a closed fist, so she pulled over. He began to get out so she started to pull out, but Newbrough was able to get back in, and the assault continued. While she was being struck, the car went off the road, struck a mailbox and drove through a yard. She told police she dropped him off near her residence and drove to the High Street address to call for help.
Police noted injuries to her face, eyes, back and shoulder, the complaint stated.
Newbrough was arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court March 28.
