A preliminary hearing for a Bradford man charged last week with aggravated assault on a woman has been scheduled for Wednesday.
William McKinney Jr., 23, of 123 Kennedy St., is charged with aggravated assault — attempts to cause bodily injury, a first-degree felony; strangulation, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and two counts of harassment, summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, at 9:04 p.m. Feb. 16, police were called to a residence in Bradford for a report of a domestic in progress. The female victim was showing signs of injuries to her head and neck. She said McKinney had struck her in the head with a teapot, struck her in the head with the door of the refrigerator, threatened to kill her and had choked her, the complaint stated.
McKinney was arraigned Saturday before District Judge David Engman and remanded to jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Bail was changed to 10% of $100,000 at a bail hearing Thursday by District Judge Rich Luther.
McKinney is represented by Public Defender Phil Clabaugh.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday before Luther.
