RIDGWAY — Plans are looking sharp for this year’s Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous in Ridgway, set for April 24 to 27.
Appalachian Arts Studio will host carvers at The Ridgway Mills, for live carving, food, entertainment and a small auction. Many carvers will bring finished pieces with them to sell directly. There will be a $5/person gate fee for adults. Kids (younger than 18) are free.
The grounds will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
On the last day of the show, there will be a quick carve and an auction.
“Brothers Rick and Randy Boni are responsible for the idea of the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous. With the help of their wives, the brothers decided to gather a few friends and family members with the intention of carving designs and figures into wood with chainsaws. The event was small and simple, but would set the stage for this annual event,” the website reads.
“The Rendezvous is now the signature event of Appalachian Arts Studio.”
And it seems to grow bigger every year.
“Each year the event attracts novice, amateur and professional chainsaw carvers who share this unique art form with the public,” the site reads. “Carvers come from all across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Australia and Denmark. The multi-national event has made people call Ridgway the Chainsaw Carving Capital of the World.”
