The Bradford Area Public Library has released a new website aimed at helping locals better access the many programs and services the library has to offer.
The eye-catching new design features a new calendar of events, registration for classes and more.
“We were striving for a site design that reflected the energy of our patrons, our diverse programs and the variety of services we offer our community,” said Janelle Nolan, marketing coordinator for the library.
The new website makes it easier to access things like information on library programs, events and community resources on the calendar page. There is also access to information about new books that have been added to the library, and even a link to the New York Times Best Sellers list for those who like to choose more contemporary releases. There is even access to the library’s catalog of books, movies, ebooks and magazines.
Some programs at the library require patrons to register before attending. Now, those who want to attend a particular event can register up to two people at once using the new website.
“This is a beneficial tool, since some programs fill up quickly,” Nolan said.
“The library’s goal is to provide innovative and accessible resources to the Bradford community, and the website reflects our ongoing efforts,” said Rebecca Feightner, executive director.
In keeping with the theme of accessibility, the website is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and will resize to standard screen size on all devices.
Those seeking to make a donation to the library can do so through the new website.
“Thanks to our new business manager, Brandie Nichols, we have added PayPal as a payment option for contributions,” said Feightner.
These features aren’t all that is in store for patrons in the upcoming months. The library plans to host instructional programs to help patrons learn to navigate the website and the many digital resources the library has to offer, such as Gale Presents Udemy, which offers a wide variety of classes in hundreds of topics; Kanopy, a free movie streaming service; or other POWER Library resources.
Beyond the new website, the library will host several programs throughout the next month. There will be a free showing of the movie “Footloose” at 6 p.m. Monday, to mark the 40th anniversary of its first release.
LIFE Northwestern PA will offer a new, free, Craft & Learn series for seniors beginning at 11 a.m. Feb. 22. Attendees will create a tied heart wreath while discussing the topic, ‘Coping with Loss.”
The Children’s Advocacy Center of McKean County will present “Keeping Kids Safe” at 6 p.m. Feb. 22. The program will cover safety planning, an overview of PA Megan’s Law, safety tips for social media and tips to prevent child abuse. A Pennsylvania State Police representative will be on hand to answer questions.
To the delight of many local children, Mike Morton and his chickens will return at 11 a.m. Feb. 24.
