THANKS FOR … well, sometimes it can be difficult to find the right words, we understand. But it is the perfect time of year to take a few moments to learn how to express gratitude to those who have done something to enrich our lives, made something easier, or were there for us when we needed them most.
The task can feel awkward at first. Once you get the hang of it, it can go a long way to making the other person feel genuinely appreciated for their efforts.
If a verbal mention of thanks is daunting, try a thank-you note. Be thoughtful and authentic as you write. Write about what it is that you truly appreciate, then explain why. As you close the note, a simple “Thank you” is all that is needed.
Keep the message short; a few, maybe four or five meaningful sentences.
An extra special part of a thank you note is that it doesn’t get sent via email. Find a blank card with a colorful front and write on the inside. The recipient will, no doubt, hold onto the thought much longer and reflect on it more often if it is something they can touch.
From Reader’s Digest website rd.com, here are a few examples of messages to include in a thank you note:
You showed up exactly when I needed someone, and I’m so grateful for you.
Your generosity and kindness has blessed not just my life but the lives of so many others. I can’t say thank you enough.
I believed in me because you believed in me first. Thank you.
Finding your little gift on my porch was the best surprise. Thank you!
