Reese Kinney brought home a Grand Champion award to lead 12 McKean County 4-H Horse Members representing the county at the Pennsylvania 4-H State Horse Show in Harrisburg from Oct. 26-29.
Kinney, competing in the 14- to 18-year-old age group, snagged Grand Champion in pole bending ponies and also posted a third-place finish in cutback ponies.
Adrianna Keesler and Jesse Gould collected Reserve Champion trophies.
Keesler, competing in the 8- to 13-year-old category, was reserve champion in pole bending horses, third in cutback horses, fourth in barrel race horses and sixth in raised box keyhole.
Gould’s two reserve championships came in EWD grooming and showmanship (walk only) and EWD walk trot equitation, minimum assistance. He grabbed sixth place in EWD obstacle trail, minimum assistance.
Other McKean County youths placing at the state show were Charlie Aiello, 10th in Western horsemanship, 12- to 14-year-olds; Georgia Barth, sixth in low equitation over fences, 8- to 13-year-olds; Melissa Burton, eighth in hunt seat equitation, 15- to 18-year-olds, and eighth in breed type hunter under saddle, 14- to 18-year-olds; Madelyn McKean, seventh in cutback horses, 8- to 13-year-olds, and ninth in barrel horses; Claire Storer, ninth in Western grooming and showmanship, 12- to 14-year-olds, and eighth in beginner Western pleasure; and Addyson Storts, third in EWD Independent WT Showmanship, fourth in EWD minimum assistance equitation, seventh in EWD minimum assistance obstacle trail.
