Regarding Francis Wilkinson’s op-ed, ”Who Chose New Speaker, Republicans or Trump?” in the Oct. 27 edition of The Era, the answer is BOTH. But whoever, it was brilliant.

Does Wilkinson know anything about the news speaker of the House, Mike Johnson of Louisiana? He is not just “some guy” and Wilkinson should know about dysfunctional folks given the current batch controlling Washington.

Can anyone do better? Let me count some of the ways. Cut the highest inflation in 40 years. Get us out of two wars with another on the horizon. Seven million illegals so far this year crossing our southern border (how many are terrorists)? Bring the United States back to energy independence. Correct the woke military.

Stop the drug traffic on the border. Bring the price of gasoline back to where it was three years ago. How about just stopping the Chinese spy balloons from casually flying across our country and over our military installations?

Maybe the Republicans can’t legislate and regulate like the “other team,” as former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden call them, but they sure have a superior way of governing.

We sure need 45 back to hopefully bring our country back again. However, with the Wilkinson thinking — or the lack thereof — it will be “God willing.”
