BOTH DRIVERS CITED IN ACCIDENT, U.S. 6COUDERSPORT — The drivers of both vehicles involved in an accident on U.S. Route 6 in Roulette Township, Potter County, at 12:04 p.m. on Oct. 26 received traffic citations according the the Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers responded to find a vehicle driven by Seth M. Huber, 26, of Lewis Run, had been observed passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed. A vehicle driven by Clifford E. Bell, 39, of Roulette, was also observed passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed.
Bell’s vehicle was turning onto Main Street when Huber’s vehicle struck it in the rear driver side panel, the report indicated. The vehicle driven by Bell came to a final rest in the eastbound lane of U.S. Route 6.
Bell sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance to UPMC Cole. Per the report, he was not wearing a seatbelt. Huber was not injured, refused treatment, and was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
Bell was charged for tire equipment and traction surfaces; while Huber was charged for not driving a vehicle at a safe speed.
AMBULANCE SIDESWIPED IN PORTAGE TWP.COUDERSPORT — Pennsylvania State Police were called to the scene of a hit and run motor vehicle accident on Costello Road in Portage Township involving an ambulance and a commercial vehicle hauling a logging machine at 9:11 p.m. on Oct. 23.
According to the police report, the ambulance, driven by Toby Smith, 44, of Shinglehouse, was traveling south. The commercial vehicle, driven by Edwin Bonannee, 43, of West Park, Fla., was traveling north.
The commercial vehicle attempted to negotiate a left curve in the road but cut the corner sharp. The report indicated the vehicle was over the double yellow line by approximately three feet and side swiped the oncoming ambulance before leaving the scene.
The ambulance came to a final rest in a pull off just south of the point of impact, per the report.
PSP stopped the commercial vehicle on U.S. Route 6 later.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
No injuries were reported for either driver. There were two passengers of the ambulance, Christopher L. Heimel, 46, of Coudersport, and Mandy Smith, 45, of Shinglehouse; neither sustained injury. All drivers and passengers were reportedly wearing seatbelts.
Bonannee was charged with careless driving.
BURGLARY FROM GENESEE TWP. BUILDING, VALUE NEARLY $7KCOUDERSPORT — A burglary was reported to the Pennsylvania State Police at the Genesee Township Building, 120 Hickox Road, between 7 p.m. Oct. 21 and 7 a.m. Oct. 22. The investigation is ongoing.
