(TNS) — A 10-year-old boy stole a construction loader and took it on a joyride in a Pittsburgh neighborhood Monday night, leaving a trail of destruction behind him, police said.
According to KDKA-TV, the boy stole the Bobcat skid-steer loader from a construction site in Mount Lebanon and drove it into the adjacent Pittsburgh neighborhood of Brookline at about 7:30 p.m.
KDKA reported that multiple vehicles were damaged, and a fence and a stop sign were knocked down. The station said police caught the boy, who was not publicly identified, and released him to his parents.
The carnage through the neighborhood was captured on residential cameras shared with KDKA reporter Jessica Guay. Video captured the boy steering the Bobcat onto a sidewalk and hitting a home’s fence as well as apparently digging up part of a street.
One resident described the damage to her vehicle. “My car is really scraped up on the side, took my mirror off of my car, but it’s definitely not as bad as the other cars over there,” she said.
Residents said one SUV was likely totaled, though. “It was all wrecked in on the side and we heard that it was lifted up whenever it was hit, and they did tow that car,” a resident said.
