As summer approaches, events throughout the region are being scheduled.
As of press time, the listed events were scheduled as follows:
Today will be Bradford’s annual townwide garage sale. The town-wide garage sale is sponsored by the Downtown Bradford Business District Authority. It’s an all-day event and maps will be available for purchase.
On May 27 and 28, at Flickerwood Wine Cellars and Cocktail Lounge, 309 Flickerwood Rd, Kane, will be the FWC Kane FlickerFest Weekend 2023, celebrating 23 years in business. There will be music both days, local artisans, food trucks and more.
May 29 will be the annual Memorial Day parade, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will begin on Main Street near McDonald’s and will end at Veterans Square, where ceremonies will be held.
On June 1, Walk with a Doc will be held at 5 p.m. on the Richard E. McDowell Trail off Campus Drive in Bradford. The provider will be Kiyah Taggart, PT, DPT, who will talk about the importance of stretching.
At 5 p.m. June 1, a seminar will be presented at Bradford Area Public Library on “Is Joint Replacement Your Next Step?” Orthopaedic surgeons Terrance Foust, D.O., and Bradley Giannotti, MD, will discuss the effects of arthritis on a joint. To register, visit UPMC.com/NCPAJointSeminar
Lunch in the Square returns at 11:30 a.m. June 2. Food vendors will be set up until 1 p.m. There will be live music as well.
On June 3, We Gotta Regatta will be held at Crook Farm. More details will be forthcoming from Tuna Valley Trail Association.
The Bradford Farmers Market and Craft Fair will be held on Saturdays from June 3 through Sept. 30 at the Bradford American Legion, 210 West Washington St.
June 4, the ELF Fund will host its second ELF Fund Golf Scramble at Pennhills Club. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. There will be buffet hors d’oeuvres and awards following the scramble. Registration and payment will be online; check the ELF Fund’s Facebook page for details.
June 8, starting at 1:30, p.m., eight finalists will be in the $50,000 Big Idea Pitch Competition.
June 9, Bright Alternatives, 3 Mechanic St., will hold an open house from 2 to 7 p.m. and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m.
June 9, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., will be Community Cleanup Day in downtown Bradford. The start and end location will be the United Way of Bradford Area parking lot on Main Street. Trash bags will be provided, participants are asked to bring a pair of gloves. Refreshments will be provided.
June 10 & 11, Sinnemahoning Sportsmen’s Club Annual Snake Hunt, 8 a.m. start both days. This is a catch and release event.
June 11 will be the annual Rotary Club of Bradford Golf Tournament, with a Shotgun Start at 1 p.m. Sign up at the Pennhills Pro Shop or call 814-368-6159 ext. 1.
June 12, 14 and 16, Youth Tennis Clinic at UPB, by the Bradford YMCA for ages 5 to 13. Ages 5 to 7 from 9 to 9:45 a.m.; ages 8 to 13 from 9:45 to 11 a.m. Contact the YMCA for details.
From 1 to 2 p.m. June 17, a presentation on the 90th Anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps will be held at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum in Ulysses. Join Lumber Museum curator, Josh Fox, for a presentation looking back at the prolific works and impactful legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps program at the 90th anniversary of its inception. Explore the new temporary exhibit that Fox put together for this event.

Art in the Wilds will be held at Evergreen Park in Kane June 24 and 25, featuring the finest artists and artisans from the region and beyond.
June 29, Two tribute acts in one night with Nearly Diamond & Barely Manilow from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bromeley Family Theater at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford as part of the Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center’s summer tribute series.
June 30 & July 1, Galeton’s 2023 Independence Day Celebration, 38th Annual Red Suspender Weekend. Live music, food, drawings, parade culminating at 10 p.m. with Galeton’s Great Fireworks Display.
July 1 & 2, The Bark Peelers’ Festival will be held at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum in Ulysses. It’s the museum’s biggest event of the year, with thousands of visitors for the special events, contests, and demonstrations that celebrate “woodhick” skills. Unique food and craft vendors provide guests with ample shopping and culinary opportunities. There is live music throughout the weekend, crafts and games at the kid’s corner, operating demonstrations of our steam-powered circular sawmill and birch still, blacksmithing, chainsaw carving, and camp cooking.

Aug. 11 to 13, Mount Jewett Swedish Festival, West Main Street. Residents take pride in their Swedish heritage and celebrate the Swedish Festival every year with traditional music, dance, ethnic foods, and craft vendors.
Aug. 13 to 19, 116th McKean County Fair, East Smethport. Enjoy candied apples and cotton candy as you explore the exhibits of farm animals and blue ribbon pies. Starting on Monday, amusement park rides run every evening at 5 p.m. Tractor pulls, street stock racing, a barn dance, and a demolition derby round out the evening entertainment. Admission is $10.

Aug. 20. 1 to 4 p.m., Old Fashioned Games Day, Pennsylvania Lumber Museum, Ulysses. Sunday was the one day of the week that woodhicks could relax and unwind. Bring the family to try some of the games woodhicks played, like checkers and horseshoes, as well as a variety of other fun 19th century games.
