Mayor James McDonald announced at the beginning of Tuesday night’s meeting of the Bradford City Council that the City of Bradford has recently been notified that they have received a $200,000 Phase II grant to assist the city with hardware/software upgrades, a new website and additional required technological updates.
He also relayed a correspondence received from Bradford’s Office of Economic and Community Development, in which residents of Bradford are to Save the Date of Nov. 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. for the re-dedication of Veteran’s Square.
“I would just like to make note that folks who put together the prefabricated gazebo in Veterans Square were hired by the manufacturer and not the City of Bradford,” Councilman Tom Riel added.
At the council meeting, 6-V Excavation was approved to demolish three blighted properties in the city — 57 School St., 50 High St. and 10 Williams St.
The School Street property bid was for $7,690; the High Street property for $13,150; and the Williams Street property for $10,375. All three structures were determined to be beyond economical repair by the city’s board of health. The bids include demolition, along with hauling the construction debris to the landfill and clearing the site. All three will be paid for with Community Development Block Grant funds.
Council approved the purchase of 22 Congress St., located within the area of the future ATA Multi-Modal Center project. The storefront had held an antiques shop. The cost for acquisition of the property will be paid for with grant funds.
Also approved was the subdivision and consolidation of lands owned by Chestnut Street Station Inc., doing business as Bradford Brew Station. According to council, Martha and Guy Colella wish to convey their tax parcel, which fronts Elm Street, to Chestnut Street Station. The subdivision has been approved by the McKean County Planning Commission, and the city’s planning commission.
Council also approved a parcel of property owned by Matthew Kengersky being transferred to Futures Rehabilitation Center Inc. “This will allow Futures to gain access from East Main Street to their already owned property,” the city’s agenda read.
