SMETHPORT AREA WOMEN’S CLUB

SMETHPORT — The Smethport Area Women’s Club held their Welcome Back meeting on Wednesday, at the American Legion Hall in Smethport; with 22 ladies present.

President Barb Peterson called the business meeting to order after dinner. The minutes from the last meeting in February 2020 were discussed. There were no items of correspondence. The Treasurer, Phyllis Faes, was absent so Peterson reported the balance of their treasury.

There was no business discussed under the old business portion of the meeting.

Discussed under new business: For their fall fundraiser, they will be having a small game of chance in November, with the actual drawing to take place in December. They will not be selling Dan Smith candy until the spring for Easter.

The club will begin collecting dues in Jan. 2023. Dues are $10 for the year. Peterson reminded everyone in attendance that this club is for any women in the Smethport area.

The winner of the monthly drawing was Brenda Hoffman.

The speaker for the meeting was County Commissioner Carol Duffy. She brought the club members up to date on the major renovations that have been taking place at the McKean County Courthouse on Main Street in Smethport over the summer.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Legion Hall in Smethport —featuring a chicken casserole for dinner.
