NEWPORT NEWS, V.A. — St. Bonaventure freshman Jenna Gregory has capped a memorable first week at the collegiate level by being named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week, conference officials announced Wednesday.
Gregory, a native of Smethport, led the way for the Bonnies in the season-opening Little Three Championship on home turf this past weekend. She posted a 5K time of 18:57.3, good for second overall out of 42 competitors, and helped the Bonnies to a second-place team finish.
Her time will rank highly in program history, as well.
With last Saturday’s effort, she now ranks sixth all-time on the individual program record board. Her performance was also the top 5K Bonnies women’s time in the past five years.
Gregory also is the first Bonnies freshman women’s runner to earn A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades since Theresa Dristle did so on Sept. 25, 2018.
The Bonnies are next in competition Sept. 24 in Rochester at the Anderson Invitational.
