Megabus, the low-cost bus service, will add 22 new destinations from Pittsburgh to central Pennsylvania and southern New York beginning Thursday through a partnership with Fullington Trailways, a motor coach carrier based in Clearfield.
Megabus announced Tuesday its deal with Fullington, a family operation that began in the early 1900s with surrey service to transport Clearfield residents to the train station. The new service will add 22 locations, including Indiana, Punxsutawney, State College and Bradford in Pennsylvania and Olean and Buffalo in New York.
The agreement also will expand Megabus service from Philadelphia (11 new cities), Harrisburg (9), State College (18) and New York City (14).
In a news release, Colin Emberson, commercial vice president for Megabus, said the partnership will be “a great addition” for its riders. Fullington President and CEO Jonathan Berzas said his company is “delighted” to expand its service.
“We continue to provide affordable, reliable and convenient service in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region,” Mr. Berzas said. “This partnership offers our customers another avenue to purchase their bus tickets.”
According to the schedule posted at us.megabus.com, Fullington will offer a variety of times and costs for trips from Pittsburgh. For round trips leaving Thursday and returning Saturday, the company offers three trips to Indiana for $28.25, beginning at 4:55 a.m.; one trip to Bradford at 4:55 a.m. for $85.75; one to Buffalo at 4:55 a.m. for $66; and four trips to State College beginning at 7:45 a.m. and ranging from $24.99 to $51.25.
In Pittsburgh, Megabus and Fullington pick up and drop off passengers at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 10th Street and Penn Avenue, Downtown.
