Minor injuries in Potter Co. two-car accident
COUDERSPORT — Pennsylvania State Police from the Coudersport barracks responded to a motor vehicle accident on Honeoye Road, just west of Wapsena Road, in Sharon Township, Potter County, around 3:44 p.m. Tuesday, August 16.
According to the police report, Joshua M. Smith, 28, of Allentown, N.Y., was traveling east on Honeoye Road and attempted to negotiate a right hand curve. At the same time, Gary J. Morris, 63, of Shinglehouse, was traveling west and following a left hand curve in the roadway.
Smith drove his minivan into the oncoming lane, struck Morris’ vehicle, and finally came to a stop on the north side of the roadway. Morris’ vehicle ended up in a grassy area just off the north side of the road.
Both drivers were reportedly transported from the scene for suspected minor injuries. Morris, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported by Bolivar Ambulance to Jones Memorial Hospital. Smith was transported by Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association to Olean General Hospital in Olean, N.Y. It was not clear if Smith was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Smith was charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
Failure to yield causes head on collision, Elk Co.
RIDGWAY — According to a police report from the Ridgway based Pennsylvania State Police, at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, an accident occurred at the intersection of Bennetts Valley Highway and Rita Lane.
Upon their arrival, the PSP determined that a vehicle driven by Jose A. Rodriguez, 35, of St. Marys, was heading south and made a left turn onto Rita Lane without yielding to the driver, Andrew T. Wright, 36, of St. Marys, with the right of way.
As a result, Rodriguez’ vehicle struck Wright’s vehicle head on and caused disabling damage.
According to the report, Rodriguez refused transport from Fox Township Ambulance and was not suspected of being injured. However, Wright was suspected to have sustained minor injuries, yet he too refused medical transport. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seatbelts.
Rodriquez is charged with vehicle turning left.

RIDGWAY — The Pennsylvania State Police Ridgway Patrol Unit responded to a report of a motor vehicle that had been struck by a rock in Ridgway Township on August 1 on Ridgway Johnsonburg Road (US Route 219) in Elk County.
According to the report, damages to the multi-passenger, large, SUV-style vehicle are valued at $2,000.
Upon further investigation, police determined two juveniles, who had been located at a nearby residence, were responsible for the incident. Charges of propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle or onto a roadway are pending.
