RIDGWAY — Collection boxes for unused medications are located at all law enforcement stations in Elk County, including the Elk County Sheriff’s office, inside the Elk County Courthouse; the Ridgway Police Department at 108 Main Street, the City of St. Marys Police Department at 319 Erie Ave.; the Johnsonburg Police Department at 100 Main Street; and the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks at 48 Servideo Drive in Ridgway.
Unused medications can be deposited at any of the previously named locations. Although individuals are able to black out their information, or remove the label — however, confidentiality is strictly maintained, either way.
This drop off program, and others like it, provide for a safe, convenient and environmentally safe way to discard unused medications until they are scheduled for destruction.
The Elk County Sheriff’s office is available to answer any questions or concerns, call (814) 776-5353 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Since the program’s inception six years ago, a total of almost 6,500 pounds of unused medication have been collected and destroyed.
