HOT ENOUGH FOR YA? According to NationalToday.com, today is recognized as “Hot Enough For Ya Day,” a silly, fun holiday to celebrate all the pros of summer. It has been exceedingly hot in the McKean County region the last couple of days, and the heat can make a person cranky and lethargic — today is all about learning to make the best of a situation by poking fun at it and doing fun things.
Summer’s heat provides the perfect excuse to indulge in some deliciously, cold ice cream any time of the day. And since July is recognized as ice cream month, you are working with a dual excuse! If more than two are needed to persuade the indulgence then perhaps you will try some vanilla ice cream for National Vanilla Ice Cream Day (which just so happens to be today) and if you’re really feeling spicy throw some sprinkles on there in recognition of Sprinkle Day (also, celebrated today.) Now there are four perfectly logical reasons to luxuriate in the smooth, creamy refreshing taste of ice cream today.
FUN SUMMER FACTS: Did you know that when temperatures are soaring in the summer, a person can actually harness that heat to fry up some eggs on any hot surface — be it sidewalk, blacktop, a car hood or even a pan kept under the sun.
Another summer fact, which surprised us here at RTS, only approximately half of Americans enjoy swimming, or water-related activities, to cool off in the summer. According to a survey recorded by NationalToday.com, about 51% of Americans would prefer to skip any sort of water-fun.
